A joint final blog entry from Dan and Fran

Now that the submission day is upon us Fran and I feel it is now time to summarise our time working together. Due to a somewhat unreliable third member of our team the two of us have worked harder and closer together than had been previously anticipated. Shooting over two days and editing over two weeks I think it is fair to say we have worked well and comfortably together working out any issues calmly and quickly giving each of us the room to experiment and implement ideas. Speaking purely as myself (Dan) I have greatly enjoyed working with Fran finding her an easy and hard working partner. I think that the friendship between us has resulted in our documentary being of a higher quality than may have been produced if I had been in a different group and surely if I had been working alone.

Although we have faced a number of ideas from lack of light during the shoot to unexpected grain during the edit we have attempted to resolve any issues to the best of our ability.

It shows in the edit (from the days of filming) that my (Fran) confidence as the presenter and Dans confidence with the camera and setup did grow. We had to re-shoot some of the footage from the first day due to unexpected gain and colour issues.
I have found it easy working with Dan as he is dedicated to the project even though we both felt it was a tricky topic to cover. I feel we have both done our best and the documentary shows this.

  1. Team work is key to any project so it is great to hear how you have learnt to work well together. Communication is a key part of this and I can see that you both went to a lot of effort to ensure you were both 'singing from the same hymn sheet'. The end product shows your commitment to the project and some great shooting, scripting and casting was in evidence.
